The Discoveries Story
Discoveries In Gardening Limited is a Worldwide marketing and manufacturing company for Sphagnum Moss products sold and branded as Angel Moss TM products. We can supply you Angel Moss TM in individual cartons or in full 40ft containers. Discoveries In Gardening Ltd was created in 1999 and began marketing and exporting its products into the USA in 2000 with only four products, namely 14” and 16” basket and liner sets and refill liners for both sizes. We were already exporting to the UK and Japan at this time.
Originally our products were manufactured by Lakeview Moss Ltd in New Zealand, but in 2006 Discoveries in Gardening bought out Lakeview Moss Ltd, and in 2009 Lakeview Moss was completely merged into the one company Discoveries In Gardening Limited. Our New Zealand Sphangnum Moss (Angel Moss TM) is exported to Europe, Asia, South Africa, North America and Canada.
History Timeline
2002
Bulk moss, 3 sizes of hanging baskets and flat liners were added to our product range.
Four people were added to our telemarketing team.
Peg Marston (leading New Zealand horticulturist) was employed to trial products to ensure quality performance before we placed them on the market. Peg has conducted many trials for our unique products, the most recent being with Moss Marbles.
2003
The introduction of our agent network, beginning in Midwest USA. Grown to a team who cover the following States: Colorado, Calafornia, New Mexico, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Iowa, Minnesota, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, and Florida.
2004
Branding of New Zealand Sphagnum Moss as Angel MossTM.
Branched out to include the English Garden Range of Ironwork & Molded Angel MossTM liners for the customer who wants premium quality.
Introduction of the rigid chain, which has the up-market chain look and yet retains the rigidity of a wire hanger, thus providing ease of hanging. This addition was well accepted in the marketplace and is highly sought after. We have many customers now who will not use any hanger other than our patent pending rigid chain.
2005
Introduction of our Twig Range (Natural Rattan and Wicker Baskets), which has proven to be a great seller in the USA. Each year we add new and exciting innovations to this range.
2006
We retooled to include the first of our molded Angel MossTM liners to fit grower baskets.
We at Discoveries In Gardening are always striving to find ways to make life easier for the commercial grower by saving labor, and speeding up the greenhouse from planting till readiness for sale, thereby saving heating costs.
2009
Introduction of a Marketing and Sales Manager in the USA to facilitate and support our agents network providing training and timely product knowledge for those who need it.
