Angel Moss Products are marketed worldwide by Discoveries In Gardening and manufactured by Lakeview Moss Ltd in New Zealand.. We have been exporting Angel Moss to the USA since 2000 when we started out with four products namely 14” and 16” basket and liner sets, and refill liners for both sizes. We were already exporting to the UK at this time. To begin with, our marketing manager from New Zealand spent about 6 months in the USA and we had two telemarketers calling from New Zealand to stores in USA, collecting orders.

By 2002 we increased our product range by adding bulk moss and 3 sizes of hanging baskets and flat compressed grower liners. In 2002 our telemarketing team was increased to include four people of which Blessing Hopeful and Serenity Valor were a part of. Peg Marsden (leading horticulturist) was also employed to trial products before we placed them on the market to ensure quality of performance. Peg has conducted many trials for our unique products the most recent being one with Moss Marbles and further trials are planned for this Spring.

2003 brought the introduction of our Agent network that began with Chuck Schielle in Midwest USA. This network has grown to a team of six including Chuck Schielle, Chuck Baglo, Jerry Ayres, John Pocos, Walt Hagen and Susan Bixby. These six have others working with them giving demonstrations, in season, in their particular territories giving our company a total of 18 residents in the USA.

In 2004 we branded our New Zealand moss as Angel Moss. This was one of the best decisions we made to differentiate our unique moss from other Sphagnum Mosses. Angel Moss (New Zealand’s strain of Sphagnum Moss) has much greater water holding capabilities compared to other Sphagnum Moss’s. New Zealand’s Sphagnum Moss has, for many years, been recognized in Japan as the world’s premium orchid growing medium. Also in 2004 we branched out to include the English Garden Range of Ironwork with Flat and Molded Angel Moss liners for the customer who wants premium quality, size and shape.

We seek to be innovative, so in 2004 we introduced the rigid chain, which has the up-market chain look and yet retains the rigidity of a wire hanger, thus providing ease of hanging. This addition was well accepted in the marketplace and is highly sought after. We have many customers now who will not use any hanger other than our patent pending rigid chain.

In 2005 we introduced yet another aspect to our marketing whereby we set up Centers of Excellence in 3 different territories – namely Cleveland, OH; Kansas City MO; and Fairfax VA. To these we introduced our full program which incorporated Wooden Merchandisers, a Growing Program, Value Added Services and Promotional Support.

We at Discoveries In Gardening are always striving to find ways to make life easier for the commercial grower by saving labor, and by speeding up the time needed in the greenhouse from planting till readiness for sale, thereby saving heating costs.

The marketing management is now fully controlled by Lakeview Moss management and we have had another increase in the telephone support team where John Ben-Canaan, Prayer Darling, Sarah Valor and Harmony Pilgrim brought our team up to six. We are happy to serve our customers to the best of our ability and hope for every success in the future.
